before i start i want to say that i don’t hate solkat i like them as friends and as a couple but i’m not someone that’ll ignore abuse in a relationship because i think they’ll look cute together
lets start off by looking at the cycle of abuse
in sollux and karkats first conversation a LOT OF PEOPLE mistook it for playful banter when that wasn’t what it was at all
karkat just seems to insult sollux for no reason??? when all he’s trying to do is tell him something
and he does it again!! this time attacking sollux for his mutation which is something he’s VERY sensitive about and his voices are something that bother him a lot
it just doesn’t seem right that sollux’s “best friend” would react like that when sollux brings up something that really bothers him
the beginning of this conversation all fits into the abuse section in the cycle of abuse: with karkat attacking sollux on things that he knows sollux already beats himself up over and trying to provoke him
which, already, shows that this friendship isn’t healthy
now we’ll move onto the tension stage
sollux seemed REALLY hesitant to tell karkat about picking someone else as the team leader which is incredibly out of character for him but i really can’t blame him because karkat completely lost his shit on him afterwards
like??? this whole screenshot is so unbelievably cringeworthy i really couldn’t imagine anyone saying something like this to someone like sollux who’s bipolar, has a victim complex, and crippling self worth issues let alone someone who’s supposed to be his best friend
and then we move onto the honeymoon phase where karkat says
immediate “remorse’” four lines after he said all of that??? with no real promise to change or apology just seeming sorry for himself all of a sudden
and it ONLY GETS WORSE (but i’m going to put the rest in a read more because this post is getting much longer than i thought)
